Catching up...

Last week was a crazy-busy week. It was VBS at our church and the family was heavily involved from decorating - to acting in skits - to leading music - to telling the Bible Stories - to tear down.

And, to top it off, I was chosen for Jury Duty.

I didn't spend much time in the sewing dungeon.

So, yesterday, I spent the day quilting. It was so nice :) I got two quilts quilted. I used free motion meanders for both quilts which made for a very productive day.

One was for someone else, and I don't have permission to post a picture.
 
This is the picnic quilt I mentioned last week. I have it quilted and today I plan to get it bound and (for once) I won't be finishing it at the very last minute (just the same week) before it is gifted to a young couple just starting out on their marriage journey :)

I chose to do a fleur-de-lise meander as it isn't too feminine - and is just a fun meander to do.

It really feels good to be back in the sewing dungeon after a busy week!

Design Wall Monday 6/13

My design wall has one more of these 3' blocks on it. I used that one block for leaders and enders while sewing the rows together on this picnic quilt top I put together.

I have a wedding open house to go to later this month and so I pulled out the picnic quilt blocks that were from a swap last year and I will gift this quilt to the young marrieds.

I'm going to miss this quilt. Even though it has just been a pile of blocks, they made me happy every time I came across them, thinking of when I would put it together and quilt it.

Not Much Happening in the Sewing Dungeon...

...and I'm not happy about it! Sitting at my sewing machine or standing at my quilting machine is great therapy for whatever my brain is overtaxed with.

This week I've had to be elsewhere. I had to report for Jury Duty on Monday (I've been chosen for a jury next week), VBS at our church starts on Sunday evening and I'm coordinating a lot of the decor as well as delegating other things, I'm on the church Pastoral Search Committee and that has needed a lot of attention over the last week, and, last but not least, we are trying to wrap up the school year and get the portfolios done so they can be evaluated *sigh*

I'm yearning to bury myself in the sewing dungeon for a few hours doing what *I* want to do :)

The Other Swap

 The Obnoxious Fabric Swap is all swapped out. 

 

I had The Peanut and Princess Sunshine help me swap out the 1471 squares...it took hours! I'll be able to take them to the PO 

in the morning and get them mailed off before going to 

a wedding in the early afternoon :)

Busy, busy, busy!

I'm hostessing two online swaps that are wrapping up...one is centralized, so I have to sort out hundreds and hundreds of 10" squares and the other is decentralized, so I just have to watch that people mail out what they signed up for!

The decentralized swap is for postcards. I just finished mine up this afternoon:

I was signed up for two groups, and I am working on getting the envelopes addressed this evening.

Not only am I busy with quilty stuff, the school year is winding down. I have one day left of History/Geography with the Boybarian and we are working on portfolios so we can close out the year. I am looking forward to putting this year to rest :)

AND at church I'm coordinating VBS and also chairing the Search Committee for a new pastor (ours retired at the end of the year).

I'm a bit tired.

Memorial Day Design Wall

Since I have been cleaning in the sewing dungeon, I don't have a lot to show. I found these little blocks made from a precut kit I bought last year in Paducah at the AQS show. I think I'll have the rest of the pieces sitting next to my sewing machine and use the pieces for leaders and enders so I can get this quilt made!

I just love the colors and batiks *swoon* are my favorite fabrics :)

I haven't made it into the sewing dungeon yet today because I had to get the Boybarian downtown so he could march in the parade.

Man, patriotic parades make me tear up! When the WW II vets went by, I though of my grandpa and how much I missed him. He was a WW II vet, with a Purple Heart.

Maybe I'll work on something patriotic this afternoon.
