Art Explorations

I am teaching a class at Axxess, our homeschool co-op, called Art Explorations. In this class of 6-12th graders, we are trying many different techniques to apply the basic Elements and Principles of Art/Design.

This week we looked at Positive/Negative space by making our own Japanese Notan pieces.

They all turned out great! The only issue was that some of the tiny pieces were hard to cut out and find again when gluing the pieces down.

I might just have to play around with Japanese Notan for a quilt design ...

Design Wall Monday - October 19th

Where is the time going???? October is already drawing to a close!

On my design wall is the Round Robin - it finally spoke to me and I'm working on the border. It needed a dark border and, since it is a chicken quilt, needed Flying Geese to be in this border :) The chicken was lonely.
I have the rest of the geese made and will be putting them into the other borders and finishing up this week :)

Check out Patchwork Times for more design wall links!
